About the challenge

McMaster Design League has an exciting weekend planned for you as part of the 8th annual CAD Designathon. A Designathon is a weekend long event that focuses on creativity, teamwork, and working on real-world problems.

The CAD Designathon focuses specifically on computer-aided modelling (CAD), mechanical design, and rapid prototyping and manufacturing. Teams are encouraged to use industry standard tools such as SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor to create their models.

Check in at the Peter George Center for Living and Learning (PGCLL) on the McMaster Campus between 8:30am and 10:00am on Saturday, January 20th 2024.

What to Build

We will be releasing the design problems shortly after the opening ceremony on Saturday, January 20th at 11:00 AM EST! Stay tuned.

Sign up for your problem: Problems are signed up for on a first-come, first-basis. Once you have a team and have decided on a design problem (to be announced at opening ceremonies), please ensure your group is eligible and that you register your group in the designated room after opening ceremonies between 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM. After this time, you must sign up at the CAD Help Centre in M21

Only one member per team must sign up.

What to Submit

  • CAD files and presentation slides must be submitted to Devpost.
  • Specific information for each design challenge will be updated in this section by January 20th.
  • Please refer to specific submission details (in each design problem page) once design problems are released
